Fwap! Pura Belpré Poster Giveaway!

Oh lookee! There's the front of the program I neglected to post an image of last time around. Isn't that a beautiful portrait of la Señora Belpré created by Yuyi Morales? This would look amazing in your library, classroom, living room, etc. I have about two, maybe three, extra program / posters to give away. If you're interested in being entered in a drawing leave a comment below. Have a favorite picture book or novel featuring a Latino protagonist? Doing some fun stuff in your classroom or library with Latino children's books? Just want to say howdy? Drop me a comment. Let's see, we'll wrap this up by Wednesday of next week. Cool? Cool.

  4. A shout out from the Cesar Chavez Branch of the Oakland Public Library in the beautiful Fruitvale. We were lucky enough to have Yuyi visit us here a few months back and the kids and I are anxiously awaiting to hear the story of Las Hermanitas. We would cherish a copy of any of the posters, thank you for the opportunity.

  5. Oh my goodness! That is PERFECT! My professional goal this year as a school librarian is to focus on diversity in children's literature. One of my units involves a week just on the Pura Belpre Award. That beautiful poster couldn't come at a better time. Besides classing up the library, all the faculty will enjoy it at our weekly faculty meetings that take place in the library. The whole school will love it!! It will get everyone talking, which is exactly what I want them to do.

  8. It sure makes a statement to a student when they can see themselves in the literature. I would love to have a poster to hang in my Bilingual classroom.

  10. Our Luminarias Committee, a group of school librarians in Dallas ISD dedicated to reviewing and recommending Spanish and bilingual books every year, is excited to discover your blog, Celia! We love making connections with like-minded book lovers concerned about diversity in children's literature. One of our members, Maria Rodriguez, recently joined the Pura Belpre committee, so we're super excited about that. AND we're all big fans of Yuyi Morales! Thank you for your important work. Looking forward to following your blog.
